Working with Us

Founded in 2006, Bisamer LLC is a small business, women-owned research and consulting firm operating in the Northern Virginia region of the United States. We are formed by a network of experienced, professional researchers and consultants, subject matter and industry experts, statisticians, survey methodologists, specialists, data collection and processing suppliers. We are a for-profit, limited liability corporation, registered in the state of Virginia, in the US government system for award management (SAM) and in Small Business Administration (SBA).

Maria E. Ramos

President and Managing Director

Maria is founder, majority owner and managing director of Bisamer LLC., giving the company its women-owned small business status. An accomplished, results-driven research and consulting professional, Maria has more than 20 years of experience in leading qualitative and quantitative research studies in diverse fields of investigation and involving multi-modal survey administration, complex designs, advanced research methods and statistical techniques.

  • International, multicultural and Hispanic research in the United States, Central and South America.
  • Applied statistics and methodology in survey research
  • Cognitive interviews in English and Spanish

Prior to founding Bisamer LLC, Maria was Senior Manager at ICF International, Vice President and Senior Consultant at Harris Interactive and Senior Research Director at Eastman Kodak. Maria holds an M.S. degree in Mathematical and Applied Statistics and a M.A. degree in Economics, and is an Adjunct Professor at George Washington University’s Center for Survey Design and Data Analysis.

Sarah Fulton

Principal Research Consultant

Sarah is a leading research and strategy advisor to corporate executives, government program managers and non-profits with over twenty years of experience using market research data and insights to develop and implement corporate and government communications programs, branding and positioning initiatives and health oriented marketing and programs. Her industry focus has been health care, pharmaceuticals, travel and tourism. Sarah is also an experienced focus group moderator and Executive Interviewer.

Prior to joining Bisamer LLC, Sarah was a Strategic Manager at AARP, a Director at Genactis, Inc. and Vice President and Senior Consultant at Harris Interactive. Sarah has a M.Sc. in Health Sciences from the University of British Columbia and a B.A. in Sociology from West Virginia University. She taught Organizational Behavior at the University of Alaska.

Bill Kattner

Principal Research Consultant

Bill is focused on providing marketing insights to businesses—International, Fortune 500, specialized companies.  His research has helped businesses grow by determining a competitive advantage, leveraging that advantage through establishing strategic visions, followed by defining tactical marketing initiatives, then monitoring customer response (e.g. ROI, satisfaction, loyalty).  He has a distinct and somewhat aggressive consultative approach–questioning the status quo–then determining and leveraging the use of fact-based knowledge essential to maintain and grow your business within competitive environments.

Key expertise is in the areas of:

  • Consultative marketing research
  • Exploratory and quantitative research methodologies
  • International business-to-business research
  • IT, manufacturing and service-oriented businesses
  • Comprehensive reporting and executive-level presentations

In the marketing research profession for 25 years, Bill offers both client- and supplier-side experience. included is work for or with IBM, Microsoft, Cargill, Cummins, Circor Technologies, Coca-Cola USA, Kimberly Clark, Jim Beam Brands, Hasbro, Welch Foods and Xcel Energy.  He has  BS in Management from the University of Minnesota and is completing MBA work at the Carlson School of Management.

Lanna Forrest

Principal Research Consultant

Lanna Forrest is a seasoned health services researcher with more than 20 years of research experience in health services research, focusing on study design, primary data collection, and program evaluation in the areas of behavioral health and clinical quality measure development. She is an experienced researcher, collecting primary data through medical record abstractions and surveys.

 

Key areas of expertise are:

  • Epidemiology and health services research methodologist
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge in the use and retrieval of information from large national databases
  • Clinical quality measure development
  • Experience measuring healthcare quality and outcomes using NQF, TJC, HEDIS, AHRQ measures
  • Qualitative and quantitative research from design to report
  • Design and execution of program and process evaluations
  • Curriculum development and educational competencies assessments

Lanna Forrest holds a Master of Science Degree in public health in health policy and administration and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Health Services Research, all from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC. She is an Adjunct Professor at Central Virginia Community College in the Division of Business and Allied Health.

Kay Harwood

Qualitative Research Consultant

Kay Harwood is an Executive Moderator with 20 years of research experience, including working for Xerox Corporation, Harris Interactive and Marketing Analysts, Inc. Her ability to quickly establish rapport with respondents and her active listening skills, combined with her naturally inquisitive nature, frequently produce unexpected key insights.

Ms. Harwood’s primary focus has been qualitative research. She has advanced moderator training from RIVA (Research in Values and Attitudes) and is an active member of the Qualitative Research Consultants Association (QRCA). As a qualitative research consultant (QRC), Kay has moderated hundreds of focus groups and well over 500 1:1 interviews – with both consumer and business audiences. Her qualitative research experience spans a vast array of topic areas and industries including animal health sciences. automotive, consumer packaged goods, financial services, technology, telecommunications, retail, and medical and pharmaceutical sectors.

Ms. Harwood received an M.A. degree in social and organizational psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo following her undergraduate degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Javier Bautista

Principal Research Consultant

Javier has over 20 years experience as a bilingual business professional with a broad range of international experience in product development, marketing research, database marketing and statistical methods.  Javier has worked in high tech, telecom, CPG, healthcare (medical device and pharmaceuticals), retail industries and the Department of Defense.  He has applied Six Sigma Black Belt principles to both product development and marketing problems.

  • Customer retention and acquisition

Prior to joining BISAMER LLC, Javier was a Marketing Research Director, Customer Growth and Retention at Time Warner Cable, a Marketing Consultant, Small Business Division, at Dell, Inc, Worldwide Marketing Research Manager for Eastman Kodak’s Health Imaging, and a Statistician at the Department of the Army.  Javier has an  MS in Statistics from Rutgers University and an MBA from the University of Rochester.
